Fan Fiction? I Think, No :)

Fan fiction is any writing inspired by the original work of another. Wikipedia begins their article on fan
fiction as follows:

"Fan fiction (alternately referred to as fanfiction, fanfic, FF,
or fic) is a broadly-defined term for fan labor regarding stories about
characters (or simply fictional characters) or settings written by fans of the
original work, rather than by the original creator. Works of fan fiction are
rarely commissioned or authorized by the original work's owner, creator, or
publisher; also, they are almost never professionally published." (Source)

Somehow, I disagree
with fan fiction. These are some of my arguments against it. Some of fan
fiction authors write their stories badly. They usually don’t use good grammar.
Sometimes, they also don’t know how to construct a good story, realistic
characters, or thoughtful world building. 

Then, in my point
of view, it’s wrong to take the ideas, characters, or universes created by other
authors and make those as our work. It’s a violation to the authors’ legal
rights. The authors of the original work invested much of their time creating
their work, and we should respect it well. In some cases, it’s even worse, as
some of fan fiction authors have tried to profit off their writing by
publishing their stories for profit. Just look at the case “50 Shades of Grey
trilogy”, which are actually a “Twilight” fan fiction but being published for
profit.  That’s why, there are some
professional authors who ban fan fiction of their work.

Finally, I really
disagree with the fan fiction whose materials were originally created for
children or teenagers but being subverted for adult audiences. An example for
this case is “Harry Potter” fan fiction. Some of them were created as a X-rated
stories, although the story itself was originally created for teenagers. Young
children can look for Harry Potter on the internet and end up reading
those kind of stories!

Because of those arguments, I disagree with
fan fiction. I think, a good fans should support the authors by not stealing
their ideas or stories, even make money from fan fiction.
